Background
Madam is a restaurant, skybar and nightlife venue located at the top of the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam. During our nightlife events, lighting plays an important role in creating the right atmosphere and supporting the DJ and overall guest experience. We are looking for motivated students who want to gain practical experience in event lighting and technical production.
What will you do?
As a Light Operator, you will help prepare the technical setup before each event. This includes setting up and checking the lighting desk, DJ booth and related equipment. You will make sure everything is working correctly before doors open and communicate with the Duty Manager, DJ and other technical staff when needed.
Lighting Operation
During the event, you will operate the lighting system using GrandMA software. Your task is to follow the music, energy and atmosphere of the night and use the lighting creatively to support the performance. Depending on your experience, you may also work on programming scenes, effects and different lighting looks.
Technical Responsibilities
You will assist with basic troubleshooting when technical issues occur and help ensure that lighting and DJ equipment is handled safely and professionally. At the end of the event, you will correctly shut down the equipment and leave the technical setup ready for the next shift.
Planning
The assignment mainly takes place during evening and nightlife events. Typical shifts start around 20:30 and finish around 03:00. Students can work on selected dates based on their availability and our event calendar.
What will you learn?
You will gain hands-on experience working with GrandMA in a real nightlife environment. You will develop your knowledge of lighting operation, event technology, DJ equipment, troubleshooting and communication within a professional event team.
Our Goal
We want to create a pool of young and enthusiastic technical talents who are interested in lighting, music and event production. Students who perform well may have the opportunity to work with Madam regularly and continue developing their skills through future events.
